This Privacy Policy explains how NoteLyn AI ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you browse www.notelyn.com, use our web app at app.notelyn.com, or use the NoteLyn AI mobile application (together, the "Services"). You can browse the marketing website without creating an account.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our services:

When you create an account, we may collect:

2.2 Service Content and Usage
We collect limited data related to your interaction with the Services, including:
• Notes, AI-generated summaries, flashcards, quizzes, and review history (stored to provide the service and sync across your devices).
• Voice recordings, audio files, images, and documents you upload (processed to generate notes and learning materials).
• AI assistant chat records (stored for your conversation history).
• User preference settings.
• General usage statistics.
• Your content, including notes, uploaded files, AI-generated materials, and chat records, is stored and processed solely to provide the Services, including cloud sync, note generation, and learning features. We do not use your content to train AI models, or for analytics, advertising, or marketing. Content may be processed by the service providers needed to deliver the features you use, and content you choose to share is accessible through its shared link. You can delete your content using the available controls.
2.3 Device and Advertising Data
The mobile app may use services such as AppsFlyer for installation attribution, analytics, and advertising measurement. Depending on your device and permissions, the information may include:

2.4 Website and Web App Analytics
We use PostHog to understand visits to our website and web app, referral sources, and interactions with links to our web app and mobile app. Analytics data may include page addresses, campaign parameters, browser and device information, and event timestamps. Analytics cookies and local storage help recognize a browser across notelyn.com and app.notelyn.com; when you sign in to the web app, activity may be associated with your account. Website and web app analytics do not use session recordings, automatic click capture, or note content. We filter search parameters and URL fragments from analytics page addresses.
2.5 Purchases and Credits
Apple App Store, Google Play, or PayPal processes payment information for purchases made through that channel. We receive the purchase and transaction information needed to confirm access, manage subscriptions, provide support, and maintain credit balances and usage history. This can include order or transaction references, plan and subscription status, purchase amounts and currencies, and credit records.
2.6 Browser Storage
The web app uses browser storage to maintain sign-in state and preferences. Website and web app analytics also use cookies and local storage as described above. You can clear or restrict storage through your browser settings; this may sign you out or affect preferences and analytics recognition.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
• To provide, maintain, and improve our note-taking and knowledge management services.
• To personalize your learning experience by generating relevant notes, summaries, and review materials.
• To notify you of app updates, new features, and other relevant information.

• To monitor app performance and address technical issues.
• We process your content solely to provide note-taking, AI summarization, and learning features, including through the service providers needed for those features. Your content is not used to train AI models, or for our analytics, advertising, or marketing, and is not shared for purposes beyond delivering the Services or sharing you choose to initiate.
• To provide AI-powered features such as summaries, flashcards, quizzes, and chat, relevant content is sent to third-party AI services. These services process your content according to their API data-use policies and do not use it for training purposes.
• To confirm purchases, manage subscriptions and credits, keep transaction records, and handle billing or support requests.
4. Data Storage and Security
Information is stored and processed using the cloud infrastructure and service providers needed to operate the Services. We use technical and organizational safeguards to protect it. Shared-note links provide access to the content described below, so control who receives those links.
5. Shared Notes
Shared-note links in the web app open without requiring the recipient to sign in. Anyone who obtains a link can view the shared note and its available generated materials; the shared view may also include source text or files associated with the note. Recipients may save, copy, or forward that content. Review the note and source material before sharing, and only share information you are entitled to disclose. Deleting a note does not remove copies already saved by recipients.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy. You can delete notes or request account deletion through the available settings, or contact support@notelyn.com for help. When you delete your account, your personal account information, notes, uploads, generated materials, and associated learning data are permanently deleted from our servers in accordance with our data retention schedule. Limited purchase and transaction records may be retained where necessary to handle completed payments, refunds, or legally required financial recordkeeping. This exception applies to financial records, not the contents of deleted notes, uploads, or chat records. Cancel active subscriptions through their purchase channel before requesting account deletion.
7. Your Data Protection Rights
You can access or update available account information in the Services and request correction or deletion by contacting support@notelyn.com. Additional rights may apply under the laws relevant to you. Browser settings can be used to manage cookies and local storage.
8. Children's Privacy
Our account-based note-taking services are intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users between 13 and 18 may use those features only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact support@notelyn.com.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy and revision date on this page and may provide additional notice through the Services. Where applicable law requires additional notice or consent, we will follow those requirements.
